A Peep Back to the opening weeks of the New Year

0

With the exception of the last week in February when the ’Beast from the East’ arrived and caused some disruption with the bitter wind and snowfall, the weather has not interfered with anything planned.

Numbers at worship have levelled out somewhat as some have been unable to be with us due to illness. For some this has been serious and for others of a seasonal nature. Thus probably we can expect now a congregation in excess of forty be considered to be a very good turnout! Of course this is in your hands, because if everyone invited and brought with them just one person we would need to open the shutters every week! Furthermore we would have the largest congregation of any of the fourteen churches in our soon to be commencing Missional Partnership. Just think our humble little chapel top of the league’!

Looking back we can say there has been a variety of services and we held a Messy Church at Woodlands in February based on the Creation and a Pastorate Sunday when there was opportunity to share in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at Woodlands in the morning and Sunday at 5 in the evening. After a buffet tea we thought about St. Valentine.

The bus has been out and about a few times and the best attended trip was one to Southport on a lovely winter’s day which was cold but sunny.

The Jigsaw

Young Stevie was off to school, recovering from a sore throat. When i called in he was deep in thought, puzzling over a jig saw. Only three pieces were left to fit in at the bottom left-hand corner.

”T hey just won’t go’ he exclaimed in annoyance. Then his face cleared, ”Gosh, i’ve had them in the wrong order all the time. Look!” And in seconds with a quick re-arrangement the picture was complete. He grinned, ”Easy, wasn’t it, after all?”

This short story reminded me of the last ‘Thursday 00‘. Attempting to complete a jigsaw designed for aged 8+ !! Olive, Jean and I just managed to complete it before the 4 pm. deadline. Why not come along and join with us at the next ‘Thursday Do’.
